A B O U T

Linda Libby is a teaching artist. A regular on San Diego Stages, she is a Resident Artist at Cygnet Theatre and Associate Artist of Lambs Players Theatre. Linda is a founder of the San Diego Actors Alliance, a service organization for San Diego theatre artists. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and Canadian Actors Equity. Awards include four Craig Noel San Diego Critics Circle Awards: Actor of the Year 2013 (the first woman to receive the award) Lead Actress in a Musical in "Gypsy", Outstanding Solo Performance in "Request Programme" at Ion, and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical in "Cabaret" at North Coast Repertory and Cygnet Theater.  She won KPBS Patte Awards for Outstanding Ensemble for "The Butcher of Baraboo" and "In Arabia We'd All Be Kings".  After 565 performances she earned two Dramalogue Awards for "Six Women with Brain Death or Expiring Minds Want to Know" and another Dramalogue for featured performance in "The Unseen Hand" for Blackfriars. In Tennessee she was awarded a Best Actress K.A.T. award for Amanda Wingfield in "The Glass Menagerie." Internationally, Linda has toured to Far East Russia, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and Toronto, Ontario. Her regional theatre work includes: Arizona Theatre Company, Clarence Brown Theatre and Barter Theatre. As an arts educator, Linda has worked with a wide range of students from fifth graders to professional actors. She has been a teaching artist for Playwrights Project, San Diego Junior Theatre, and the Academy of Performing Arts. At the College level, Linda taught all levels of theatre courses at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Maryville College, and Pellissippi State College. She founded the Drama programs at Bayfront Charter High School and High Tech Middle Media Arts. Linda also teaches and directs for Southwestern College. Her primary role has been as an actress but she has also produced, directed, written and designed numerous productions. Because of her extensive professional experience Linda earned her teaching credential as a Person of Eminence; one of 27 such credentials issued since 1979.

 

Linda trained at the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts and earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree from Temple University. She is a musician - enjoying singing, guitar, piano, electric bass and an occasional bout with a banjo. Her original music was featured in "Sea Of Souls" that premiered off-Boradway.

Married to fellow theater artist and writer Eddie Yaroch, Linda and her partner love to travel.
